Putin's Warning: Choose One

Putin reminded Pashinyan of the price difference: $177.50 per 1,000 cubic meters from Russia vs $600+ in Europe. The message is clear: leave our bloc and pay three times more for gas.

"We have very many friends in Armenia. Many political forces that are pro-Russian. We would very much like all these political parties, politicians to be able to participate in this domestic political work during elections. Some, I know, are in places of detention, despite the fact that they have a Russian passport."
Putin is openly asking Pashinyan to free Samvel Karapetyan -- the Russian-Armenian billionaire under house arrest since June 2025, now the leading opposition candidate. He didn't use the name. He didn't need to.
Pashinyan's Response: Your Citizens Can't Be PM

"In these elections only those citizens who have exclusively an Armenian passport can participate. With all due respect, people with a Russian passport according to the Constitution cannot be either candidates for deputy or candidates for prime minister."
Translation: Karapetyan holds a Russian passport, so he can't be PM anyway. A constitutional shield against Putin's request.

Pashinyan blamed Putin for Artsakh: you said it was Azerbaijan's first, we just followed your lead. Putin blamed Pashinyan: you said it in Prague, so we couldn't intervene. Neither takes responsibility. 120,000 displaced Armenians watch both men point fingers.

What Pashinyan Did Yesterday -- Before Flying to Moscow
One day before this meeting, Pashinyan's Anti-Corruption Committee arrested 5 people linked to Karapetyan's party for alleged vote-buying. The timing is not coincidental. When Putin asks "why are pro-Russian politicians in prison?" -- Pashinyan can answer: "they're criminals, not politicians."
