What Happened Today
CONFIRMED On April 19, 2026, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the city of Gyumri on a government-style tour. Anna Hakobyan accompanied him. Pashinyan published a video from Gyumri showing her with him at the rehearsal of the pro-government music group "Varchaband" ahead of a public concert. Multiple independent Armenian outlets reported the sighting the same day.
The headlines, April 19, 2026:

The word "divorced" is being applied by the Armenian press in sarcastic quotation marks («Ամուսնալուծված»). Opposition-adjacent readers are drawing the obvious conclusion that the paperwork of February did not correspond to anything that happened in the marriage.
What the February Divorce Actually Did
PUBLIC RECORD The sequence of legal, financial, and geographic events in February 2026 reads as a single operation, not as a marriage ending:
- September 2025 -- Anna Hakobyan enrolls at Beijing Normal University. Establishes a foreign residency claim.
- February 4, 2026 -- Anna collects the $1 million Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi. The money lands while the marriage is still legally intact.
- February 17, 2026 -- Anna and Nikol register a new marriage at a Yerevan civil registry. On the same day, the marriage is dissolved. This register-then-dissolve maneuver (covered by OWL in "Register Then Divorce") separates the tax and asset treatment of the $1M award from the marital estate under Armenian family-law rules, and creates a documentary record that the marriage has been "formally" ended.
- February 19, 2026 -- Anna is in Fort Worth, Texas. The geographic separation begins.
- February 27, 2026 -- Pashinyan publicly announces the separation. On the same day, the government raises pensions. The news cycle attached to the separation announcement is shared with a crowd-pleasing policy announcement.
Between February 27 and April 19 -- 51 days -- Anna Hakobyan was not publicly seen with Pashinyan. OWL's earlier investigation "39 Days of Silence: Where Is Anna Hakobyan?" tracked her public absence through the first 39 of those days.
What the April 19 Reunion Cancels
On the evidence before today, OWL and multiple Armenian outlets were tracking a plausible exit narrative: Anna Hakobyan, now with a foreign residency, $1M in independent funds, a legal separation, and an established international advocacy profile, was positioned to leave Armenia or to remain abroad indefinitely. Nikol Pashinyan, freed of a formal marriage, could manage the June 7 election and any post-election aftermath without the political liability of a wife in Beijing or Fort Worth.
The Gyumri video cancels the narrative in one frame. If they are together on a government concert tour 51 days after the separation announcement, one of three things is true:
- They have reconciled -- in which case the public is owed an explanation of why the February paperwork was executed at all, and specifically why the $1 million award and the asset-protection maneuvers preceded it.
- The divorce was never real -- in which case the February paperwork was a legal performance designed to produce specific financial and political effects without corresponding to any change in the marriage, and the Armenian electorate was presented in February with a performance dressed as a personal disclosure.
- It is a one-time campaign appearance -- in which case the "separated" Ombudswoman-of-soft-power is willing to be filmed on her "ex-husband's" concert tour when his June 7 political needs require it, which is itself a statement about whose career this marriage was serving.
All three readings describe a political arrangement, not a marriage. In Armenia and in international coverage, Pashinyan has benefited from the separation announcement by appearing less encumbered. Hakobyan has benefited by appearing independent while retaining her institutional positions and her $1M fund. Both have benefited from the narrative that they are ending. On April 19, 2026, they are not ending. They are together in Gyumri. The benefit remains, but the narrative supporting it has collapsed.
The Timing, Twice
What This Is, in One Line
A Prime Minister and a woman legally declared his ex-wife appeared together in Gyumri on day 51 after their separation, on a government campaign tour, with the video published by him. Either the divorce was never real or it has been cancelled without public notice. Either way, the February narrative was a performance, and the performance has been paused before the June 7 election.
To Nikol Pashinyan and Anna Hakobyan
On February 17, 2026, you registered your marriage at a Yerevan civil registry, then dissolved it on the same day. Ten days earlier, Anna had collected a $1 million international award. Ten days after, Anna flew to Texas. On February 27, the separation was publicly announced and pensions were raised in the same news cycle.
On April 19, 2026 -- 51 days later -- you appeared together in Gyumri. Anna watched the concert rehearsal. Nikol published the video. Neither of you has commented on the contradiction between this public reunion and the February paperwork that said the marriage was over.
The Armenian public was given a narrative in February. The narrative was that your marriage was ending, that Anna was establishing a separate life abroad, that the $1 million was her independent fund, and that the separation was a personal disclosure. On April 19, that narrative was cancelled without a word. The public is owed an explanation. Is the marriage on? Was it ever off? And if it was a legal maneuver, what were its actual purposes -- the ones you did not state on February 27?
51 DAYS, ONE VIDEO, ONE PERFORMANCE
The paperwork said the marriage was over. The Prime Minister's own video, April 19, says otherwise.
