The Name

Anelya Gubryan is written Անելյա Գուբրյան in Armenian and Анеля Губрян in Russian; some outlets transliterate the surname as Qubryan. She was born on 2 September 1999 in Yerevan and studied journalism at Yerevan State University.

The Career

She began modelling as a teenager, joining the Atex Fashion Center around 2016, and continued through to Yerevan Fashion Week 2025. She became known to a wider audience as an actress, playing the character 'Ani' in the Armenian television series Eleni Oragiry (Elena's Diary).

The Armenian press has described her as the goddaughter of singer Gohar Harutyunyan, and she has appeared alongside performers including Tata and the group 3.33. In interviews she has spoken about a difficult early life, including working as a waitress from the age of fifteen.

Her Own Words

Between 2020 and 2021, before her name was attached to the Speaker, Gubryan gave a series of personal interviews to the entertainment outlet Bravo.am, which we have archived in full against deletion. In them she spoke candidly about love and marriage.

'For me there is no love at first sight,' she said in one. 'My first kiss was similar to my second.' And: 'Before marrying, one must be established and independent.' She also said she would marry only 'if I am loved.'

Marriage to the Speaker

Her engagement to Alen Simonyan, 46, became public on 1 March 2026, after a ceremony at the Dvin Hotel's 'Hayrik' restaurant in Yerevan. Simonyan is roughly twenty years her senior.

The engagement followed his July 2025 divorce from Mariam Margaryan, the mother of his three children. Shortly after the relationship became public, Gubryan's own social-media accounts were deleted, and Armenian outlets reported being unable to find any active profiles under her name.
